Diversity and inclusivity have been hot topics in the film industry in recent years, with a growing recognition of the importance of representing a wide range of voices and perspectives on screen. However, one aspect of diversity that is often overlooked is the inclusion of filmmakers and screenwriters with disabilities. This is where the concept of Innovative Filmmaking comes in, breaking barriers and embracing the unique perspectives and talents of individuals with disabilities.

As a filmmaker and screenwriter I have a unique perspective on disability within the industry, as I have a degenerative genetic condition, known as Peroxisomal Biogenesis Disorder. This is a rare genetic disorder, that has mainly affected my mobility, vision and hearing. I have used what I have learned about overcoming these physical challenges to drive my creativity and put forward a fresh perspective on what an individual can achieve. Innovative Filmmaking is all about pushing boundaries and challenging traditional norms in the industry. By incorporating diversity in all its forms, including disability, filmmakers can create stories that are more authentic, inclusive, and representative of the world we live in. Embracing diversity and disability in the film industry not only provides opportunities for talented individuals to showcase their skills but also allows for the creation of ground-breaking and thought-provoking content that resonates with a wide audience. It's about understanding that different perspectives enrich the creative process and lead to more impactful storytelling. By showcasing the work of filmmakers and screenwriters with disabilities, we not only celebrate their talent but also pave the way for a more inclusive and diverse film industry. It's time to recognize and support these voices, as they have the power to shape the future of filmmaking in truly innovative ways.
